What do you guys think is a good reason or situation where a rally is more appropriate than a one to one attack, and vice versa...
Can you give some scenarios?

If the defender has a lot of traps or troops, getting a rally on them will reduce the losses inflicted to the attacking troops and would increase the losses the defender has. For example: Example
| HQ
| T1
| T2
| T3
| T4
| Traps
| 1
| 14
| 400,000
| 0
| 0
| 0
| 100,000
| 2
| 18
| 400,000
| 100,000
| 250,000
| 0
| 150,000
| 3
| 21
| 1,000,000
| 200,000
| 300,000
| 50,000
| 150,000
| 4
| 17
| 40,000
| 0
| 500,000
| 0

|
Example 1: The rally requires the equivalent of 400,000 T1 troops to beat. The 100,000 traps could also pose a problem. A single attacker could easily destroy this with a 250,000 march with a few losses. A smaller attacker may benefit from having a rally to reduce the losses since they have a smaller march number. Example2: This could pose tricky for a single attacker to beat. It could be achieved with multiple marches, however a rally may reduce the losses they experience. Should the attacker have T4 troops, they would have no problem with clearing this base solo. Example3: Even with T4 troops, this base would be tricky to zero. A rally would clear this out but would require significant quantities of T3 troops, or moderate amounts of T4 troops. Example 4: This could be soloed by a single player with a meat shield included in multiple attacks. Despite taking longer to attack with a rally, it would reduce the amount of troops lost.

I'm a little confused in this, Helix... maybe you can clarify it a bit... Let's say the example is:
Target:
LVL 15 Base, with 40k T1 troops, 40k T2 troops, 10k T3, and 50k traps.
Assuming that I have a Lvl 14 base with the same troop counts as above. What's the benefit of a rally (say I have a level 38 commander)... And wouldn't the rally also potentially give the target more time to prepare, activate boosts, etc.? So is it better to attack twice and take more losses or rally?

If they are online to shield/rally to protect themselves then they could also be online to heal their T1 meat shield between each hit. You would therefore need a LOT of marches to kill/hospitalize their T2 and T3 troops. Between each hit they would be able to heal their T1 troops.
A rally can be set to 5 minutes and have multiple players participate. This ensures there is only 1 hit which will clear all their troops and traps. The attackers would therefore lose WAY fewer troops and can do it in a shorter time that it would take to clear with multiple marches.
